An 18-year-old man was charged with driving under intoxication late Saturday night after an accident that seriously injured two teen women, authorities said.  The teen was driving on Route 146 when he lost control of the vehicle, police said, hitting a barrier and moving across the road. The car overturned and landed on its roof before hitting a tree rear end first, authorities said.

The two 18-year-old women were not wearing seat belts, and they were ejected from the back seat of the vehicle, police said. They were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. The driver and the 20-year-old front-seat passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and were soon released, authorities said.
