What is bail?

Bail is a sum of money that you must pay after being arrested in exchange for your release from police custody. For a DUI offense, there is typically a bail schedule that lists preset bail amounts for offenders. You will get your bail money back if you show up to court on your trial date. If you do not show up, however, the court will keep your money and you will be further charged with failure to show.

If you would like to learn more about the bail process, then Rhode Island DUI defense lawyer James Powderly can help. Contact him today at 401-662-9006.
