What is a felony DUI?

An offender is charged with felony DUI if he or she has had two or more previous DUI convictions in the past 5 years.  Felony DUI is punishable by at least one year in jail, driver’s license suspension for 2-3 years, a $400 fine and required installation of an ignition interlock system in the offender’s vehicle.

DUIs that cause significant bodily harm or death to another individual are also considered felonies, and are punished even more severely.

If you have been charged with felony DUI, then Rhode Island DUI defense lawyer James Powderly can help.  Contact him today at 401-662-9006.
